Aluminium Stewardship Initiative and ResponsibleSteel

What is the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative and ResponsibleSteel?

Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) and ResponsibleSteel are two organisations dedicated to the sustainable use of aluminum and steel.

Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) is a non-profit organisation for setting standards and certification for aluminum along the supply chain. ASI’s international certification system is designed to maximize aluminum’s contribution to a sustainable society. The goal is to recognise and collectively promote responsible production, sourcing and management of aluminum.

The non-profit organization ResponsibleSteel focuses on the goal of ensuring that steel products are produced, processed and recycled in an environmentally friendly and socially just manner at all stages of the value chain. Together with all parties in the steel supply chain, civil society and associations interested in a sustainable steel industry, and other organizations, an independent certification standard and program have been developed that is aligned with the ISEAL Codes of Conduct.

The Aluminum Stewardship Initiative and ResponsibleSteel organisations aim to achieve the following goals with their respective standards and certification programs:
